The blade is very crisp and bright with generous original frosting and many patriotic US motifs. The original grip and wire remains intact. A truly fine example of the type of sword carried by line infantry officers up to the rank of Major. The scabbard appears to be redone with modern leather but using the original bands. The chain seems to be original and in great condition. Very beautiful and a must add to a collection.
