Description:
This Greek Mauser made by FN Herstal in the late 1930s is in good condition with about half of its bluing remaining and its stock showing heavy wear with the forward sling swivel/stock ring having worn the wood underneath down heavily. This is quite an unusual firearm as only 40,000-50,000 of these rifles were ever delivered before Belgium was occupied by Germany in WW2, and was never captured and refurbished by the Germans after the fall of Greece. It still retains the Greek crest as well as all other contemporary markings. There is possibly a hand carved mark in the stock, but it is difficult to make out what it is. The bolt is non-matching, but with similar wear to the rest of the metal surfaces it is possibly a result of rushed assembly. 8mm Mauser
