"Identified Burnside 3rd Model Carbine. Gray patina to the metal. Reasonably sharp with all markings present. Scarce being a third model. This gun was issued to Private Levi Olds in Company C of the 12th New York Volunteer Calvary. Private Olds was 29 years old then. He was 5’9" tall and light complected with blue eyes and light hair. This unit was mostly stationed in North and South Carolina and were involved in different scouting expeditions and skirmishes. Accompanying this gun is a letter signed by Frank Mallory of Springfield Research Service detailing where he found the records on this gun being issued to Private Olds. Neat scarce model identified gun!
