This is a commercial third model flintlock Brown Bess musket. The 39"" round 75 caliber smooth bore barrel has a good bore that would clean better. The barrel has Birmingham proofs. The metal is bright and smooth with light staining and erosion around the touch hole. The lock is marked in the center with a crown over GR. The crown is somewhat eroded. The brass furniture are very good with an even patina. The stock is very good in appearance but has a crack forward of the lock that extends almost all the way around. There is also an oval 1/2"" hole forward of the front triggerguard tang that exposes the ramrod. Beyond this, the stock is very good overall. The sling swivels and ramrod are present. The action functions correctly. This is a very affordable third model Brown Bess that, with a little work, can be made much better.
