Description:
Here we have an extremely handsome Belgium made FN Browning Auto 5 semi-auto shotgun chambered in 16 gauge manufactured in 1928.  This 16 gauge Auto 5 is in amazing condition inside and out, and features a 28" smooth bore barrel with front bead sight.  The barrel has a full choke.  The gun is in excellent condition overall with the original factory gloss blue finish still bright and shiny.  No scratches, knicks, dings, or abrasions are on the metal.  All of the factory markings are clean and sharp, and the factory polished in-the-white bright bolt and shell lifter are still mirror-bright and free from any stains or pitting.  The receiver shows no finish wear on the lower edges from being carried in the normal spot, nor does the trigger or triggerguard show any finish wear whatsoever.  The exterior factory gloss blue finish of the barrel and the forearm cap are both in superb condition.  The bore of the 28" (27.5")barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, free from any pitting, dents, bulges, or damage of any kind.  The stock set on this 1928 Auto 5 is in excellent condition, and is a very handsome dark red-brown in color.  Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks or repairs, and the original checkering on the forearm are still crisp and clean without any visible damage.  The stock and forend are flawless with no nicks, scratches, dings or abradions. I have been told that the buttstock on this A5 is original and I have been told that it is a Browning A5 buttstock that was later available for different LOPs, cheek seating etc.  I do not know which is on it although all original stocks on the pre WWII guns I have seen have wrist checkering.  As mentioned earlier, this Browning is just as clean on the inside as it is on the exterior.  The internals are all in like-new condition with no visible wear whatsoever.  With the bolt locked back you can see how the interior of the receiver is essentially spotless and the face of the bolt is pristine.  The action is slick and stout; when the bolt is released it slams into battery perfectly with the barrel.  All of the controls are in perfect working order, including the safety and magazine cut-off.  There is no question that it has had a VERY easy life.  If you have been looking for a 16 gauge Belgian Browning Auto 5 for your collection that will work as both a shooter and good long-term investment, this 1967 production gun would be a superb choice.  Tthis standard-weight 16 gauge Auto 5 could be carried with a great deal of pride into any hunting camp/club in the world.  They dont get much nicer than this, and finding a better one with a 28" inch barrel would be extremely difficult.  I am listing this for a friend whose husband has passed.  This gun was extremely well maintained and handled and its hard to even see any handling wear.
