The rifle's exterior is an overall brown patina with pitting at the muzzle. The bands are brown with a couple of them having dented edges. The frame is brown with light roughness. The breech block is a smooth blue-brown and is marked J.H.HALL over H. FERRY over U.S. over 1837. The stock is good with an old age crack on the left at the butt, a small area of missing wood at the top left of the butt plate, a repair and the usual chips at the rear of the action, a couple of areas of missing wood along the ramrod channel, and the dents and dings expected of an issue arm. The swivels and a ramrod are present. The action functions correctly. Priced reasonably to reflect the overall condition. This rifle presents better than it sounds. SOLD Antique: Yes |
