Description:
"

Simeon North of Middletown, CT, manufactured approx. 10,500 Model 1843 Hall percussion carbines between 1844 and 1853. The 21"" round 52 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore. The barrel retains approx. 60% of its original brown finish. The breech block is marked U.S over S.NORTH over MIDLtn over CONN over 1846. It retains much of its original bluish case color. The remaining metal has a light brown patina. The sling ring is present on the bar and the replacement ramrod is present. The stock is very good with a small at the ramrod channel near the front band, no other cracks or chips, light to moderate issue wear, and a visible cartouche at the left rear of the action. The action functions correctly. Many Union cavalry units were armed with the Model 1843 during the Civil War. This is a nice example.
