Description:
Serial #30990, .30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1940-made rifle that retains 80-85% of the original blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, along the exposed edges, and on the bearing surfaces and handle of the bolt. Some further fading is present on the trigger guard, as well as some minor scratches at the nose of the floorplate. The front sight and hood are still in place, a blank has been installed in the rear sight dovetail, and a period Zeiss Zielvier 4x scope with post and line reticle has been installed on Tilden two-piece mounts. The checkered walnut stock is in very good shape with light-moderate wear, some flattening of the points, and a repaired chip at the toe of the butt. Additionally, there is some residual rubber from a no longer present slip-on recoil pad just behind the pistol-grip, and the original metal buttplate is worn to mostly dull gray. The rifle is equipped with a period brown leather sling that is still supple, intact, and fully serviceable. This is a great looking Model 70, in an ideal mid-20th century hunting set-up, and is in fine used (but not abused) condition. FFL or C&R
