Description:
Serial #673012, .38 Special, 6" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and yoke (the extractor is not numbered). The metal retains 97-98% of the original blue finish with some silvering at the muzzle, as well as along some the raised edges and projections. Additionally, there is a fairly bright turn-ring on the cylinder, and a few small spots of silvering on the sides of the frame. The trigger and rare "Humpback" hammer retain about 70-75% of the original color case-hardening, with the balance worn smooth gray, mostly on the sides of the hammer. The checkered, diamond-center grips are correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior, and are in fine-near excellent condition with only minor flattening of the points, and a few small handling marks. The revolver is accompanied by a 2000-dated S&W factory letter that lists a shipping date of September 15, 1938, to Sloan’s Sporting Goods Co. of New York, NY, and also confirms the "Humpback" hammer. This is a truly nice S&W target revolver, with a highly desirable, rare feature, and rates fine-near excellent overall. FFL or C&R
