This high condition waterfowl gun has high quality lock work. Notice the tear drop bridles and rebounding hammers. Original condition throughout. Barrels are a full 36" and have original brown and bores that are pristine with no corrosion. Chokes are full and full. Gun has a Watts nickel plated receiver and furniture, not uncommon with English waterfowl guns as they were often subjected to saltwater hunting conditions. The Watts nickel plating system is a very light nickel coating and is prone to flaking with the passage of time. This gun is no exception with sight flaking of the nickel plating on the standing breech. Gun was stripped and cleaned and found in excellent internal condition. No cracks to wood / no loose ribs / tight on face. Another interesting aspect to this gun include a lever latch forend system, far more practical than the traditional wedge system. The Jones underlever is considered the strongest system ever devised to attach barrels to action. The overall weight of the gun is 12 LBS 15 1/2 OZ with just the barrels alone weighing 5 LBS 3 1/2 OZ. LOP is 14 1/4". Drop at comb is 1 9/16". Drop at heel is 2 1/4". Gun has cast off. Shipping is $100. As an antique, this 8 gauge can be shipped directly to you as local law allows. SOLD Antique: Yes Shotgun Gauge: 8 Gauge |
