Description:
This is a British double barrel percussion shotgun made by famous English maker J.R. Cooper. Historically shotguns of this style are dated for use in the 1860's-Civil War Era. The shotgun has heavy, Damascus barrels that are decorated with platinum band inlays and a walnut stock. Has the original, functioning double trigger. Shotgun is covered with intricate engravings throughout the barrel, trigger, lock plate, and metal buttplate. Made by J.R. Cooper in London, England. "J.R. COOPER" marked on left and right side plate. "J.R. COOPER LONDON" marked Damascus barrel. All original parts-no replacement parts found. Action is tight, shotgun functions almost as good as new.
I acquired this piece of history from an elderly gentleman that had inherited the shotgun. Truly a beautiful, excellently maintained civil war era double barrel percussion shotgun.
