FINE CONDITION 1898 SPRINGFIELD KRAG RIFLE, #466XXX, MADE 1903. One of the last of the smooth operating Krags made the year of the transition to the Model 1903 Springfield. By the serial number this one was made in 1903 and it has a correctly corresponding sharp 1903 stock cartouche and circle P cartouche behind the trigger guard, very small rack number "84" in center of stock on right side. This rifle is truly in "ATTIC CONDITION" as it has not been cleaned in years (decades?) and has some scattered very surface, non-active dry rust on the bolt , some on the trigger guard and scattered parts. I have left this for whoever buys it. An oily rag should remove it. The barrel shows fine deep blue and even the forend cap/bayonet lug and extractor retain fine blue. The stock shows light handling only and is also uncleaned. The receiver is dark and uncleaned, action is tight AND THE BORE IS MINTY BRIGHT! Correct rear sight and sling swivels. A really nice, unmessed with and certainly uncleaned 119 year old Krag! Nice Krags are getting hard to find and prices are rising rapidly.
