Description:
This gun was part of a set of 8 Grade 6 (A Grade) Hammer guns, all 10ga guns, ordered by E.C. Meachem Arms Co. of At. Louis in early 1883.  These guns are known to advanced collectors as the "Meachem Arms Set" and are the only grouping of high grade hammer guns like this known to exist!  The guns, all labeled "PREMIER QUALITY" in the Parker records are all 10ga guns made with 32" barrels.  I have 3 of the guns from that order for sale now- this one being the first SN 31840.  This gun, made with 32" Damascus barrels, checkered splinter forend with fully engraved latch release.  The case hardened action is absolutely full coverage engraved with scroll and fine game scenes throughout.  Tear drops sculpted on the barrel bolsters which are also fully engraved.  Trigger guard is near fully engraved with SN at tang.  Stocks are beautifully figured finest quality European Walnut with round pistol grip with gold oval cap and terminate with the original engraved skeleton buttplate.  I have attached a photo of the original order from the original order books to show this incredible order!

Overall, this gun remains in excellent overall condition.  Barrels retain about 90%++ of their bold damascus pattern.  Action retains a flash or two of case color, engraving still clear and fine all the way around.  Stocks are sound, checkering is fine and they retain nearly all of a professionally restored hand rubbed finish.  Bores do show some orange peel and minor pitting but overall fine.  Mechanics are crisp.

These #4 Frame 10ga guns dont come along everyday and this is literally a once in a generation opportunity to purchase a trio of Grade 6 hammer guns from the same order (see my other listings for the other two guns).  This gun can be purchased individually for $19,500 or as part of the trio for a volume discount price.  Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions or reasonable offers at (704) 280-2382 or via PM on this site.
