We offer you a “Rare” Valentin Christoph Schilling Fully Engraved Nitro Proofed Drilling Chambered 12x12-8x57 JR with excellent bores.
This drilling was restored several decades ago and is in very fine condition. Schilling manufactured drillings are very rare and seldom seen. The engraving is very detailed and was completed by an experienced hand around 90 years ago. It wears 26 ¾ inch barrels with both shotgun barrels having excellent bores with no issues. It has short chambers that are also in excellent condition. The left barrel shows light pitting at the muzzle and one small dent as pictured. The rifle barrel is bright and shows light frosting. The front sight has a gold bead on a post with the mid bead being ivory. The rear rifle sight pops up when the rifle barrel is selected on the tang selector. This mechanism works just fine with no issues as does the safety. There are cocking indicators as pictured which also function as they should. The action is tight on face and the drilling functions as it should. The stocks are both sound with no cracks or issues. The butt stock has an added pad with a L.O.P. of 13 5/8 inches over the pad. There is a cartridge trap on as pictured with the cover also being engraved.
The right barrel is marked on top “KRUPP ESSEN / V. Chr. Schilling” with the Eagle proof and NITRO. Krupp being the manufacturer of the steel with Essen being the city where the plant was located. “V. Chr. Schilling” being the abbreviation for Valentin Christoph Schilling who opened his first gun shop in 1842 which continued in the family for a long period. The left barrel is marked “Fluss Stahl” fluid steel with the Eagle proof and NITRO. The bottom of the barrels starting with the forearm lug are marked “K / W.V. / R.S. / Crown U / 151 / 7.7mm/57 / V.C.S. / St.m.g. (proof for steel jacketed bullet) / Shield N / 15gr.”. The edges of the barrel flats are marked “Crown W / Crown U /12 in a circle / 13”. The receiver has proof marks as shown with the matching serial number 151 as does the forearm. It will ship in the wooden case as shown.
This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $85. This rifle will be shipped in a heavy double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe.
