VERY FINE WESTERN VIRGINIA TIGER MAPLE PERCUSSION "KENTUCKY RIFLE" STYLE LONGRIFLE CIRCA 1840’S-50’S. 53” o/a with 37 ½” heavy weight octagon .36 cal. rifled barrel with original front and rear sights. Western Virginia style extra long 5 ½” barrel tang. Iron ramrod. Remnant of the script maker signature still visible on the top flat. Double set triggers. Brass mounts and very ornate open work brass patch box. Lock plate with distinctive decorative brass mountings. Butt plate with unusual 1” iron heel. Very fine quality tiger maple stock with Western Virginia style beavertail cheek rest and “Bird Wing” brass side plate. Very fine overall with the original finish on stock and lovely dark patina on metal. Working order and excellent bore with very nice rifling. Very handsome.
