Description:
EARLY SPECIAL ORDER TARGET SIGHTED OFFICERS MODEL .38 SPECIAL WITH 7 1/2" BARREL, #320XXX, MADE 1910. The standard length for these was 6" and few were made with the 7 1/2" barrel, especially in the very early models. This example shows the usual thinning/silvering of the blue on the barrel sides coming back from the muzzle (more on the left side than right) indicating holster wear. There is also some light thinning blue wear toward the rear of the frame and silvering on the grip straps. All markings are sharp and clear including the "stylized C" and rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Correct 1905 last patent date on the barrel top. Early style non-medallion checkered walnut grips are excellent. Still some good fire blue on the trigger and hammer back. Checkered back strap and trigger. Tight action and bright minty bore. A 112 year old class act from Colt!
