1940 Production “147” Code Third Reich Rifle
Here we present a C&R German Third Reich J. P. Sauer & Sohn K98 Mauser Rifle manufactured in 1940 in Suhl, Germany. After the war, Israel obtained many of these rifles to arm their troops, rechambering them to 7.62x51mm, marking them in the manner you see here.
The overall condition is good. Externally worn and weathered. Robust action. Nice bore for its age and use—strong rifling, no pitting. This example sports a solid laminate stock with an expected amount of wear from use and handling. CAI” import marked. Mixed numbers.
