As I understand the Rampart lion was the symbol for the East India company from the early 1800's. The total musket length is 55" with a 39 inch barrel which has both front and rear sights. The only markings on the functioning lock is theRampart lion. I'm quessing this was originally flintlock converted to percussion. The dark wood stock has many dents, dents, dings andcracks (wrist area Seem solid) the stock shows much use. There are numerous markings on the stock and brass butt plate. Most of the metal has turned brown. The trigger guard and but plate are brass. The approximately 75 caliber is smooth bore. The lock functions but the nipple is missing.
