Description:
SOLD PENDING! Matched pair of consecutively numbered 12ga William Evans best grade  sidelocks with 28" barrels, 2 1/2" chambers choked light mod and tight mod (5/8 & 1/4). Very nicely figured 14 3/4" stocks with new 3/4" leather covered pads. Large full coverage scroll engraving, manual safety catches with 85% case hardening to actions & lockplates. Barrel blacking excellent and no dents or dings.  No issues, no cracks, wood still proud. In makers leather double motorcase.  I have kept these guns in England for some years for use yearly in the grouse butts. Fast handling and balanced, they are the only pair of guns I have shot 3 in front and one behind at one flight of driven grouse! Also great for driven pheasant or partridge or duck. Golden era guns circa 1924 in excellent condition that have been properly cared for. Recently stripped and cleaned by Carl Russel gunmakers in England, tight and on-face. 1 1/2 in DAC and 2 5/8 DAH, slight cast off (right hand guns).
(The second to last pics of the full guns were made before the new leather pads were made for them) Guns are gold inlaid "1" & "2" on top levers, forearms and barrel ribs. Pics of the guns in use at Allenheads/Muggleswick in 2018. Have also been used at Bolton Abbey, Snilesworth moor and Belvoir castle to great effect. If you know how to shoot the guns will do their part and more for you!
Update: I just shot this pair at Belvoir castle for two driven shooting days in late Oct 2022 and they are in top form, my loader loved the strong well timed ejectors and they certainly did their part on driven partridge, pheasant and ducks (even a wood pigeon and a goose). I brought them back to the states. Priced well below what I have in them.
