Description:
U.S. Military Colt Model 1911A1 made during WW2 in 1943. This is a very nice Rock Island Arsenal re-work most likely performed just after WW2. The Colt WB inspected frame and un-numbered Colt slide retains nearly all of the original arsenal parkerizing and shows a matching color and patina. The slide hardening lines are still nice and clear around the front 1/4 of the slide, and all of the small parts are period G.I. and show a consistent finish with the rest of the gun. The High Standard barrel in this Colt is excellent and bright, with nice sharp rifling throughout. There is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections. This gun appears to be as is left Rock Island after WW2 and likely saw service in Korea and Vietnam, but was well-cared for. The WW2 Keyes grips on this Colt are in excellent condition, both sides free from any cracks, or repairs. The checkering is still clean and crisp, and both grip panels are nice and tight to the gun. This 1911A1 comes with one original WW2 Scovill Mfg. contract magazine which is marked with an "S" on the top lip of the floor plate. The action on this 1911A1 is slick and smooth, and the slide-to-frame fitment is excellent. All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order and we have no doubt that it will function just as well today as the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a very nice World War 2 Colt 1911A1 for your collection, this 1943-production Colt would be an excellent choice. Includes a craft box numbered to the gun.
