Description:
For sale is an Indian Wars era US Springfield Trapdoor rifle in 50-70 caliber. The 32 1/2" barrel has mostly turned to a splotchy brown patina but has strong rifling and some slight pitting in the bore but is still very shootable. The lock is marked U.S. SPRINGFIELD and dated 1863. The buttplate although heavily pitted sports a strong U.S.on the top tang. The breech is dated 1870 with a strong cartouche and U.S.. The barrel and receiver are both serialized with 29917. The stocks wear numerous dents, dings and scratches typical of a 150 year old gun but no splits or cracks except for a 1 3/4" chip missing at the left side forend at the end cap. This is an antique and can be shipped directly to most of you as allowed by your local laws. No sales to NJ, HI, or any other locale that prohibits possession of this firearm. Sales to Alaska requires additional charges Also available at an extra charge are 33 blackpowder loaded rounds with Dixie Gun Works brass that was with the gun when I acquired it. I have no data on this ammo and would recommend using it as components only rather than shooting it. Shipping is $80 via USPS with insurance and tracking.
