The Winchester Win-Lite Model M59 12 Gauge Semi-automatic Shotgun was manufactured from 1959 through 1965. A total of 82,085 were manufactured. My M59 has a 30" Full-Choke barrel with a 2 3/4" Chamber. The amazing light weight of just 6.5 Lbs. was achieved by using a composite barrel construction and aluminum trigger housing and receiver frame. . The barrel used an inner steel sleeve wound and bonded with 500 miles of fiberglass then bonded to the outer sleeve. Very strong. The receiver frame and trigger housing are made of machined high strength aluminum making it very strong. Winchester did not compromise the integrity of this shotgun in its effort to achieve the desired lighter weight.
This Win-Lite Model 59 has the appearance of any other Winchester Shotgun. The receiver is engraved with a pheasant hunting scene on the left and a duck hunting scene on the right. The stock is hand finished walnut with hand checkering on the foregrip and pistol grip. All of the wood and metal in my opinion are in good condition; maybe even very good considering its age. No deep scratches, cracks, repairs, or damage to the wood and the metal carries consistant blueing finish throughout.
This shotgun will be great for the average hunter that does'nt want to lug a cannon around all day. I have priced this Model M59 to make it affordable for the occassional hunter/shooter or a great first shotgun for a young or beginning shooter.
