Description:
A good, mechanically excellent brass mounted large bore (approximately .69 caliber with a fine bore) single-barrel man-stopper flintlock handgun marked “TWIGG” on the lockplate and “LONDON” on the top of the breech of the barrel and stamped on the left side of the top of the breech with the Birmingham view and proof marks introduced in 1813, between which is a mark with which we are not familiar, possibly a private proof mark, appearing to be a “5” above an eagle with wings spread. The ramrod appears to be original but is broken near the narrow end but it feels like the narrow end is still in the channel for the ramrod. Here’s a great opportunity to own a good looking mechanically excellent more than 200 year old large bore flintlock man-stopper handgun.
