Description:
General Specs: Llama V, 1944, 9mm largo, 40oz, 5.1"
Serial Number: 88897
Llama Firearms, also known as Llama-Gabilondo y Cia SA, was a Spanish arms company founded in 1904. Manufactured between 1932- 1954 the Llama MK V was similar in form and operation as the Colt 1911A1. This example, manufactured in 1944 has a serrated thumb safety and slide stop, a wide checkered hammer and retains its lanyard ring on the left-hand heel of the frame. The 1911A1 style mainspring housing is serrated, there is no grip safety. The hardwood grips are checkered with a facsimile of Colts diamond pattern at the screws, the checkering is in excellent condition with some handling wear. The slide, frame (under the left-hand grip panel), barrel, barrel bushing, and slide release are all marked with the matching assembly number- 731. This Llama V is chambered for 9mm Largo and is supplied with two 9 round magazines. The left side of the slide is marked GABILONDO Y CIA. ELGOIBAR (ESPANA), CAL 9m/m.  38  “LLAMA”. The date code for 1944, an * over an O and is stamped near the slide release. On the right-hand side of the frame is the monogram G.C in an oval and serial number 88897. The pistol is proofed in various places. The gun shows 97% bluing with some handling and holster wear, the bore is in excellent condition. This firearm was manufactured at a time of global conflict, and although Spain remained ‘officially’ neutral throughout the Second World War, it is tempting to conjecture how this weapon travelled through Europe and landed in the United States of America! VINTAGE FIREARMS INC have 9mm Largo ammunition available, please inquire for pricing. Thank you for looking.
