Description:
This Remington Model 1903 is a very nice example of this legendary U.S. battle rifle that could be used as a representative piece in a collection as well as a great shooter.  It was built in 1943 during World War 2 and was more than likely issued and used in combat, and then returned into the U.S. Militay's inventory and sent thru the U.S. Arsenal system where it has been rebuilt and/or inspected.  We know this from the markings on the stock, in particular the 2 "P" stamps on the bottom of the stock's wrist.  The SA GAW stock cartouche is WW2 wartime rebuild mark of Springfield Arsenal.  The barrel is an original Segley replacement barrel dated 8-44 and has an good bore. The bore is bright with sharp rifling scattered minor corrosion throughout, and guages 2+ at muzzle  The arsenal applied parkerized finish is in nice condition overall.  It has a very pleasing green hue to it that is consistent on all of the metal parts.  The stock and handguard are also in nice condition.  The wood is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage on both the handguard and stock.  The stock still shows a nice boxed "S.A." over "G.A.W." (Springfield Arsenal over inspector's initials for George A. Woody) cartouche on the left side.  All of the stock hardware is intact and in excellent shape.  All of the controls on the rifle are in perfect working order including the rear sight.  The action works smoothly without any slop in it and the bolt turns into battery perfectly.  If you have been looking for an attractive WW2 U.S. 1903 rifle for your military weapons collection that you can also take to the range, this example would be a perfect choice.
