Description:
This is a very nice collectible Sharps Single Shot Pistol, Large Frame , First Model,.36 Caliber.
Has a 5 1/2" barrel, with a strong five grooved, barrel. Bore shows some corrosion from black powder.
Metal is all brown to plum patina. Light freckling on some areas.
Action is strong and everything works like it should. Has brass blade front sight and groove rear sight.
Has a single adjustible trigger. Has Walnut grips with a lot of original varnish remaining.
Grips show handling marks but are solid with no losses. Serial number #719 is marked on the inside of the grip strap.
It is, also marked, under the hammer hard to read "C. SHARPS & CO Riflle Works PHILA. PA.".
These were made for only one year. Period of production 1857 to 1858.
