Description:
Good people...less than a week left on this listing and when it expires, that will be that.  I know you can buy a "great" Chinese binocular for less, but when you're in the Spessarts and the great Kronehirsch steps out in the misty mist, will your cloudy Chinese communist binocs be up to the task to ensure it is the 1A you seek?
-----------------------

These binocs look virtually new; like they've been in a time capsule. Just look at the straps on the binocs. I think they were pulled out only to check out Helga across the Strass. They are the Leitz Mardixit model in 10X50 with lenses as sharp of the day they were made. When were they made?  I'm not sure. They say "Germany" on the binoculars and anything I've ever owned that was of German manufacture had "West Germany" if it was made before 1990, Germany being reunified in 1990.  Any issue?  Yes. On this Mardixit model, Leitz of Wetzlar used a leatherette covering on the binoculars. It was a dawg as almost every binocular that had it put on saw flaking, especially as the binocs aged and the leatherette became brittle (as it should not have done). There are varied fixes that you can find on-line to replace it or have it replaced. I never bothered...I initially put a little stickum on my finger and applied to where the flaking was happening and put them away. I never used them hunting. I did not buy these in Wetzlar, but do remember where the Leitz (Leica) factory was there...near the bottom of a very steep paved downhill road into town. Coming down that road with a company of tanks in the winter from nearby Ayers Kaserne aged me a lot at 30 years old...back when we were saving the Germans from the Germans...

If you want a spectacular binocular in terms of clarity, magnification and 50mm objective lens, then these are a deal. Messing with the leatherette if you so desire will keep you outta the bars.

If you have an interest, pls email as opposed to calling. Leave me an email with your phone # and I'll call you in the order in which queries are received or just answer your email if you prefer.

I'm only asking for $120 for the binocs.  Shipping cost?  Let's find out where they may be going, who provides the best/cheapest service in your area and we'll go from there. Given their weight and size, my estimate for USPS Priority Mail insured is $30.  If you want to sign for the package, that'll add to the USPS price.  No signture required, USPS will leave it on your porch/door step, etc. as it'll likely be larger than the average mail box can handle.

Last thought...Want a more contemporary example of a similar surface screw up? Take a gander at my $30 Yeti coffee cup made in commie China. Yes, I know, $30 for a coffee cup? Who would pay such? Trust me...not me... But in any event, a similar phenomenon... Does it affect the cup's function? Not at all,  and I would guess that the commie's have effected product improvements, just as those good Leitz Deutschers did with their binoc surfaces....
