This particular FAL was made by FN and is a pre-ban, G-Series rifle. These are the most sought after civilian FALs on the American firearms market.
These firearms began import into the United States around 1962, however, their importation was short lived. The ATF reviewed the firearms and determined that they were too close to the Military version of the FAL and conversions were too easy to install. Therefore the ATF immediately halted the importation of these rifles until FN brought forth a more compliant rifle.
The ATF did grant amnesty for the rifles that had already cleared customs and deemed them as legal within the US. This rifle‚‚s that were allowed have serial numbers that fall in this range (G2247-G2996) noted as Curio & Relic by the ATF.
This rifle features the composite fore end with a built in bipod, a wood stock, and one 20-round magazine.
