Colt SAA consecutive pair, and not any “old” consecutive pair either!
These beautiful revolvers are 3rd generation SAA’s with 3 ½” barrels, “D” engraved with gold wire; blue/case color frame; fire blue screws; birds head grips with two piece ivory grips; two tone hammer (fire blue on top/back & polished on sides); chambered in .44-40; and they are absolutely new in their respective boxes.
These are a one owner pair from a private, Midwest collection.
Approximate cost then (each): SAA $1600 + 3 ½” barrel $200, + consecutive serial numbers $300, + birds head grip and ivory stocks $900, + “D” engraving $4000, + gold wire $600 + two tone hammer $150 = around $8,000.00 X 2 + $18,000 per pair. And that was over 25 years ago. What that equates to in today’s money, I’m not certain but my guess is somewhere well north of $25k! More importantly I doubt if such a pair would be available to order!
