Rare early Grade 2 8 bore L.C. Smith. This gun, engraved in the early style with burst of scroll on sideplates. Made with 32" Damascus barrels, original splinter forend. Case hardened receiver with light scroll. Round knob pistol grip buttstock with original early style game scene L.C. Smith buttplate as seen in the photos.
The gun remains in an untouched "as found" state. Barrels with 40% original pattern visible. Receiver with visible engraving and light spotting with some beginning pin prick losses. Buttstock is very good with separations behind locks, sound through the wrist and checkering has thinned but is mostly still visible and original on both forend and butt. Buttplate is very good and original. Bores with pitting. Mechanics are fine. Gun is a representative of this very rare model, or could be restored.
These early Smith 8ga guns are rare and hard to find. This gun is priced right so that it could be restored and you'd have a fantastic looking gun, or priced right so you could keep it original and untouched as it sits.
