Description: Serial #5389, .32 Rim Fire, 3 ½ inch ribbed octagon barrel with a near excellent bore, bright, with strong rifling and scattered areas of light pitting. This is the model 1 ½ first issue revolver manufactured by Smith & Wesson from 1865 to 1868. It is in fine overall condition retaining about 40-45% of the original bright blue finish with the frame retaining about 90% original blue with most of the loss due to thinning finish and handling marks. The barrel has toned to mostly brown with strong steaks of original blue in the protected areas of flat under the ejector and along the groove on each side of the rib. The cylinder is brown with specks of original blue. The hammer retains strong case-hardened colors fading to gray in the spur, the trigger and ejector are gray. The smooth rosewood factory grips are numbered to the gun and show light handling marks. The gun functions mechanically with a crisp action and correct timing and lockup. The barrel, grips, and cylinder are assembly numbered to the gun. The barrel-to-frame fit has light movement. A fine example of a First Issue.
