The metal is a grey brown with pitting. The revolver is complete and functions but is quite warn and was used hard during its life so the cylinder usually but does not always turn when cocked. The nipples are worn. The hammer holds firm at half and full cock and the loading lever functions as it should.The serial number is difficult to see. The US Government orderd large numbers of Remington pistols during the civil war as the were preferred over Colts due to there reliability and sturdiness.
