Description:
Plant “Army, 3rd Model” Civil War Revolver, Cal. 42 cup primed cartridge.  Serial # 7424.  The ejector rod is in a frame mounted channel and the receiver is squared off on the front. Made in 1850s to early 1860s. It has silver plating over a flat brass frame.  The plant was designed to get around S&W patents by loading the cylinder from the front.  The blued barrel is inscribed, “Merwin and Bray-New York”.  The cylinder, also blued, is inscribed, “Patented July 12, 1859 & July 21, 1863”.  The bore is slightly shiny but has some erosion in it from being fired.  The holes in the cylinder are smooth with no erosion.  In general, the revolver is free of rust or pitting.  No roughness or pitting on the frame anywhere around the cylinder.  The barrel has about 50% residual bluing.  The receiver has about 70% residual silver over the brass frame.  Grips are Rosewood and both are serial numbered to the revolver.  No cracks or chips.  The action is tight with distinctive clicks at half and full cock.   The cylinder revolves with tight lockup in the firing position.  A revolver that has seen some light use.  Antique, no license required.  Shipped cost via priority mail.  Bank/certified check or money order.  Personal check OK but will hold shipment until clearance is verified.
