ENGRAVED Antique CHERET of PARIS Double Barrel Side/Side FLINTLOCK Shotgun
225+ Year Old Shotgun w/ CHECKERED STOCK
Here we present an antique engraved Cheret of Paris Flintlock Double Barrel Shotgun, made circa the 1790s in Paris, France. Jean Anne Cheret worked at 85 Rue des Deux Ecus, in Paris between 1786 and 1812. Cheret was a supplier to the Revolutionary Government and was appointed Gunmaker to Joseph-Napoléon Bonaparte, the elder brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. He was the King of Naples and Sicily from 1806 to 1808 and later became the King of Spain from 1808 to 1813. After 1813 the company became known as Cheret et fils (Cheret and Son).
The overall condition is good. Weathered, dark patina. The actions are excellent and crisp. The right cock has a modern replacement screw. The bores are smooth and dim. The stock is solid.
