Description:
US marked Springfield M2 training rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle. Developed in the early 1920s, these rifles were designed to mimic the full-size Springfield Model 1903's, yet were chambered in .22 LR. The goal was to give soldiers trigger time on a Springfield 1903, without the expense of .30 Caliber ammo. The M2 rifle is an improved version of the Model 1922 M1. Many M2s were used for competition shooting after the war due to their being one of the most accurate and best made .22 caliber rifles manufactured prior to the close of WWII. The barrel is dated "6/37" and the rifle features the Lyman model 48 micrometer rear sight and ramped blade front sight.
