The barrel is probably not a military barrel that was reamed for the cartridge - it looks like 6 land rifling. Still sharp and bright. Someone built this rifle for target shooting. Very tight chamber. 5/8 dovetails cut fore and aft on the barrel that tells me it had a scope at one time. I got it with no sights so I have a Lee Shaver mid range and a reproduction beech front installed. 65 grains of Swiss 1.5g and a Brooks 535gr paper patch bullet at 100 yards and I can cover a 5 shot group with my palm. I can't shoot that well.. The barrel was made for paper patch bullets. $6500. No trades. SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .45-70 Government Manufacturer: Sharps Bore: Sharp and Bright Condition: Very good Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Excellent Bore Condition: Excellent |
