Description:
This Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Old Army is in decent condition with heavy holster wear, the grips appear to be original as does what bluing remains. The rifling is good with some patches of frosting, and all the stamping is still present, even the light patent stamp on the cylinder. The action is smooth and still functions great, with the lockup still being tight, even after ~160 years. The serial number for this firearm is 8983, placing its production squarely in the middle of the American Civil War. These handguns were very popular during the war as the more standard alternatives were percussion revolvers that took far longer to reload, and were far more susceptible to moisture ruining the powder. This Firearm is a very uncommon piece of Civil War history and is a great functional piece for both collectors or reenactors. .32 Rimfire
