Description: This is a typical WW2 era Brodie helmet that has a dark brown painted finish consistent with those used by the Auxiliary Fire Service during the Blitz. The metal retains 90-92% of the original paint, with minor flaking to the underlying metal throughout. The rubberized cloth suspensionis in excellent condition, and the original elastic chinstrap is still flexible and pliable. The brim of the helmet is held within an extremely rare, original canvas carrier, designed to loop around the wearer’s neck (much like a gas mask carrier). The carrier is in very good-near fine condition, but does have some age discoloration, scattered small insect damage, and one of the neck loop attachments has partially let go. These helmets are fairly uncommon, at least in the US, but the carriers are extremely rare. This example is in very good condition, and would make a great addition to any collection.
