Description:
SOLD With about a 50 cal., 40” barrel with a heavily oxidized bore. This is a nicely antiqued matchlock musket, the barrel a plum patina with remnants of oxidation and scattered pitting about its surfaces. It is retained by nine thin brass capucines and has a simple block style front and rear sight. The spring, match arm, pan cover and all iron hardware is a plum patina, also with some light oxidation or light pitting. There is a circular brass inlay atop the barrel which is not discernible, brass lockplate and geometric brass decorations affixed to the stock which show evidence of something applied to age them. The Asian hardwood stock rates about very good showing numerous repairs to cracks or chips about its surface and remnants of some sanding. The mechanism works somewhat loosely with a rather weak spring. An attractive display tanegashima. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
