Description:
Serial #26400, .38 Special, 6 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves about halfway down. This is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and extractor (the yoke is assembly numbered to the frame at the hinge). The metal retains 75-80% of the original blue on the metal with fading to smooth plum-brown in spots, as well as some minor silvering at the muzzle, and along the high edges and projections. The gripstraps have worn to smooth pewter gray as well, but the hammer and trigger have fairly bright original color case-hardening remaining. The checkered hard rubber S&W grips are correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior, and have discolored slightly to a dark brown color. There is some mild flattening of the points, but the grips are otherwise in fine-near excellent condition. The lock-up is still tight, and the action is fully functional. A 2021-dated S&W factory letter accompanies the revolver that lists a shipping date of January 28, 1903, to Schoverling, Daly & Gale Co., New York, NY, and was one of ten identical revolvers in the shipment. This is a fine example of a desirable 1902 Model Military & Police revolver. FFL or C&R
