Description:
"

This U.S. Model 1863 type I (screw bands) percussion rifle-musket was made by Samuel Norris and William T. Clement on contract for the satae of Massachusetts in 1864. The 40"" round 58 caliber barrel has a fair to good bore wih visible rifling. Itr has the customary V over P over eagle with a small LCR on the left flat. It is bright with brown staining and a few dings toward the breech. The lock is marked with the eagle over U.S. and S.N.&W.TY.C over FOR over MASSACHUSETTS. The lock and all other metal parts are bright with varying degrees of staining. The stock is about good with an old crack repair at the wrist, no other chips or cracks, light overall wear, and the barely visible outline of a cartouche at the rear of the left flat. The nipple is batttered and the trigger guard bow is reversed and the rear swivel is missing. The action functions correctly. This gun can fill that hole in your collection.
