***SOLD, shipped*** The 270 Win. is always one of the more difficult calibers to find in the target style, and this one is as good as they come. Pristine condition throughout showing 99%+ original finishes. This beautiful rifle is made even further unique by being one of the very last Pre 64 Model 70s ever produced! Since 270 Target rifles were not cataloged after 1950, this is a special order chambering. The late serial number of 580960 places it in about the final week before production ceased by mid October 1963! Note the barrel proof mark is on TOP of the barrel which only occured in 1963, further verifying its date of assembly!
Please also note that the S/N is NOT scribed on the bolt body as usual. My very close examination confirms to me beyond any doubt that it was never scribed. As expected, there is virtually no notable wear in this area and there has been no post production buffing whatsoever.
The Model 70 Target style may have a reduced following compared to the sporting styles, but even if you only want one to round out your collection, you will surely never improve upon the condition and uniqueness of this one!
