Mannlicher 88/90 Infantry Rifle. Used by the Austro-Hungarian Empire this Steyr produced straight pull rifle fired the smokless 8x52R cartridge which was an improvement on the M1888 black powder 8x50R cartridge. The rifle up for consideration originally was an M88 version and was updated to the more modern version. To accomodate the smokeless powder the sights of the 88/90 version were fitted with side plates mounted to the sides of existing (M88) rear sights. The straight pull action functions flawlessly and has decent bore with good rifling. Serial number on reveiver appears to match the stock which is in excellent condition. This antique rifle may be shipped directly to anyone who may legally own it.
