VERY HIGH CONDITION MARLIN 1889 .38-40 OCTAGON RIFLE, #98XXX, MADE 1894. One of the best of these I've seen in a long time. This one retains most of the high polish receiver blue with only some age dulling on the edges. The barrel and mag tube also retain about all the original blue. The receiver still shows good light case color on the sides. Original buckhorn rear sight and Rocky Mountain blade front sight. Excellent markings. Excellent butt stock with one small chip at the left side lower tang/receiver juncture. Excellent forend with only some light scuffing to the finish on the sides. Tight wood to metal fit. Tight action with strong hammer spring and safety half-cock. MINTY BRIGHT BORE! This model was only made from 1889-1894 and finding one as fine as this is difficult.
