The bore shows bright with crisp rifling and a clean, bright chamber. The extractor recess is crisp and undamaged. The metal surfaces retaining 94% of the original bluing with some high edge wear. The side plate has toned to a grayish patina. The small parts have mostly toned to a white steel, with some faded straw color remaining. All markings remain intact and strong, with a deep DWM monogram on the toggle with the correct imperial inspector marks. The checkered walnut grips are numbered to the gun and remain in very fine condition showing a few lightly dull points and minor handling marks, they retain an excellent and tight fit. Both tin and wood base magazines are correct, although not matching. One is numbered 3854m, the other is unnumbered. All the serialized parts are matching, including the un-grooved firing pin. Mechanically, this piece is in excellent condition and operates perfectly. The 1918-dated black leather holster also remains in excellent condition with some light wear at the high edges and some light handling marks, a few very light divots. The stitching and buckle hardware remain tight and intact, the strap shows light wear. The inside of the flap is clearly maker marked “FRANZ COBAU / BERLIN / 1918”, and the rear of the holster is crisply inspection marked “L.Z.A. / (eagle) / “H. BERLIN”. The Luger tool shows light wear.
