Weatherby FN Mauser Southgate Custom .270 Weatherby Magnum Rare Left Hand Conversion. Pristine condition
This rifle is absolutly gorgeous and a incredibly rare find. Information gathered on this rifle, is that it went to Africa on a safari in 1952. Regarding the conversion the action was originally a right handed FN 300 that was extensively welded and machined to accommodate a left handed bolt. Bolt release was fabricated in that of a 1903 springfield. The entire bolt root redone and cocking mechanisms altered. The welding machining and fabrication is like none we have seen in our years of collecting Weatherbys. The cost to do this today would be staggering, it's the finest left handed coversion that you'll ever see.
- Metal polished bluing - 99-100%
- Stock has a traditional Weatherby high gloss finish.
- In the stock is a 1952 East Africa Lion Shilling.
- Checkering appears to be a #1 pattern.
- Wood is in great condition, slight dents around grip area and slight scratches on cheek piece. Other than that it's mint.
- Round nose with white spacer 45 degree forend tip.
- Ebony grip cap with white spacer and Holly Diamond.
- Pachmayer recoil pad with white line spacer. Pad is soft.
- Buehler micro-dial scope mount and rings, ready for scope installation.
- Jaeger trigger.
- Factory left wing safety.
- Blued bolt handle with polished bolt body.
- Polished Follower.
- Bore was scoped and is absolutly pristine, very little use.
- Jaeger swiver studs.
- Serial Number 10XX, estimated to be made around 1949-51.
- Beautiful claro walnut stock.
