This offering is for an all correct early production WINCHESTER M1 CARBINE. This excellent condition first production block carbine features the Type 1-B spring tube receiver that phased out the earlier type with the second hole cut made for the spring tube tab. This improvement strengthened the receiver making it less prone to the cracks found in the earlier model. The early features of this carbine are as follows:
RECEIVER - Type 1-B spring tube type, marked WINCHESTER, SERIAL #1105053
REAR SIGHT - Type 1, square S on left side
BARREL - Winchester , long skirt, marked W 3" from muzzle and PW in an oval 6.5" from muzzle, flaming bomb on right side of gas cylinder, original crown, clean bore, M.E. 0.5, NO IMPORT MARKS
FRONT SIGHT - Unmarked type 1 with thumbnail cut
BARREL BAND - TYPE 1 2 weld, unmarked
SLIDE - Type 1, full arc cut, marked W, early pin stop
BOLT - Type 2, marked W on large lug, extractor type 3 marked W, type 1 ejector, type 1 firing pin marked W
TRIGGER GROUP - Type 3 trigger housing with depot oil hole on left side, marked W , a crescent and a 6 on the right, Trigger marked W, Sear type 1 marked W, Mag release type 1A (long plain face) marked W, Safety type 1 checkered, Hammer type 2 DOGLEG marked W, 22 coil hammer spring
STOCK GROUP - Type 2 oval cut HIGH WOOD walnut stock with W in sling well and W.R.A. over G.H.D. and cross cannon cartouche on right side, two P's on pistol grip, AAY mark on left receiver area, deep groove 2 rivet handguard marked W, Recoil plate type 3 marked W and x marked screw, early WINCHESTER splatter pattern buttplate
