VERY FINE CONDITION 1894 .38-55 OCTAGON RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER, #182XXX, MADE 1903. Really attractive rifle that retains fine deep blue on the receiver sides, upper edges and receiver ring that shows only some light wear and a tiny spot or two of corrosion. The upper tang and bolt show good thinned blue, exc. blue on the loading gate. Barrel shows fine blue overall with some small areas of age dulling/mixing plum and light edge wear. The mag tube shows fine blue overall. Exc. barrel markings. Original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and small blade front sight. Overall fine+ stock and forend showing only light handling and very tight wood to metal fit. Tight action. Bore shows light wear with some scattered light roughness that may brush out better, good rifling. Factory letter verifies caliber, barrel etc. and shows it was received in the warehouse on June 17, 1903 and shipped June 30, 1903. A fine 120 year old 1894.
