HIGH CONDITION U.S. MARKED 1885 LOWALL WINDER MUSKET, .22 SHORT CALIBER, #131XXX, MADE THE FINAL YEAR OF WORLD WAR I IN 1918. This is a particularly fine example that retains about all the deep blue on the barrel and barrel bands/forend tip. Similarly, the receiver retains nearly all the blue with one light rub area on the left side where the blue has thinned slightly and on the lower portion of the factory Lyman receiver sight where the blue has thinned and mixed with plum. Even the lever and upper tang retain most of the blue. Excellent screws, exc. markings including the U.S. and flaming bomb stamping behind the hammer on the upper tang. Good blue on the butt plate. Excellent+ stock and forearm with hardly any handling marks and very tight wood to metal fit. Best of all, the bore is minty bright! One of the best I've seen in a while, especially with desirable U.S. and flaming bomb markings.
