Description:
Here we have a unique and highly collectable Smith & Wesson Model 27 chambered in .357 Magnum caliber. These revolvers are the post war version of the Registered Magnum and they are made just as nicely, with much attention paid to detail that you just cannot find on the later Smith revolvers. The large square butt N frame will easily make the hot magnum loads more manageable and they are very sweet shooters with regular 38 special. This particular example has a 5 inch pinned barrel with a shrouded lug, bright bore and strong rifling. The top strap is finely checkered with matching barrel rib. The gun has checkered walnut grips with inlaid medallions. There are no chips or cracks in the grips. The rich bluing has very few signs of use or handling marks and only very lightly visible turn rings. The heat treated trigger and hammer still have good color. The trigger still has sharp grooves on the face and the hammer has strong checkering. It has a ramped blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. The front and back of the grip frame have 6 grooves making for a postive grip. The action and lock up are solid with no excessive play. Under the grips a previous owner has ingraved some information which is not visible with the grips installed (as seen in the last photo). This fine revolver would make a great addition to an existing collection or a very strong way to start a new collection.
